Individual Therapy
Individual psychotherapy involves one or more 50-minute sessions scheduled at the same time each week. I do not offer biweekly sessions for new clients. I try my best to accommodate uncertainties in your schedule due to work and family as necessary, but consistency in participating in sessions is essential. Before starting this work together it’s important to ask yourself if you can commit to the time required.
People often ask if I specialize in work with a particular type of person. It’s a difficult question to answer because, while I don’t focus on a particular “disorder” or treat specific demographic groups, my clients generally share certain worries and concerns that I might sum up as: difficulty feeling as happy, as productive, or as well-related to others as they’d like to feel. Some of the specific concerns we might work to address in individual therapy include:
• Depression and anxiety
• Relationship challenges
• Trauma
• Sex and sexuality
• Substance use and addictive behavior
• Loss and grief
• Creative blocks
• Professional and career challenges
• Gender identity exploration
